Jogi doktor. 1937-ben vármegyei díjnok, majd tanácsnok Vác Város Polgármesteri Hivatalában. 1945-től 1949. április 28-ig Vác város polgármestere. Ezt követően a Váci Tatarozó, illetve az Észak-Pest Megyei Tatarozó és Építő Vállalat tervfelbontó normása, technikusa, majd jogásza. 1948-ig SZDP, 1948-ban rövid ideig, kizárásáig MDP-tag. 1956-ban az újjászerveződő SZDP tagja. 1956. október 26-tól a nép által, 1956. november 14-én a munkástanácsok küldöttei által véglegesen választott Váci Forradalmi Nemzeti Tanács elnöke, a város polgármestere. Az 1956. október 26-án megválasztott Vác Városi és Járási Munkás- és Katonatanács elnöke. 1956. december 2-tól a Bástya Sk. Intézőbizottságának tagja.
1990-ben Vác város díszpolgára lett.
